We supported Sutton Housing Partnership to use the Energiesprong approach to achieve net-zero targets, targeting 40kWh/m²/year heat demand across four housing archetypes.
Homes received new roofs, windows, external wall insulation, air source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, and solar PV. Later phases trialled innovative offsite manufactured products and enhanced cavity wall insulation.
Performance monitoring (installed in all homes) showed significant energy improvements. The project demonstrated the Energiesprong model’s viability for UK social housing, establishing groundwork for mass deployment and cost reductions for a broader portfolio - alongside an average 80% reduction in energy costs.
“Yes, it’s disruptive… but look at the end result – you’ll have lower energy bills, cleaner, fresher air, beautiful looking properties. A house at a comfortable temperature.” John Butler, Sutton Housing Partnership resident
