The National Energy Foundation (NEF) is recruiting roles to accelerate the roll out of Energiesprong retrofits and infill in the UK. These are business/supply chain development, project management and technical roles.

Current Vacancies:

Energiesprong Deal Facilitator

Reports to: The National Energy Foundation, Energiesprong Project Manager
Location: Based at NEF’s offices in Milton Keynes but working from home possible with prior agreement
Role requires some remote-working at partner premises across the UK
Contract Term: 3-4 days per week. Contract to 31st December 2018
Remuneration: Competitive
Closing Date: 29.10.2018, 5pm

Purpose: To facilitate demand and supply partners coming together to co-design a collective purchasing scheme and to get landlords and suppliers signed up to a collective commitment.

Project Manager Housing

Reports to: The National Energy Foundation, Energiesprong Project Manager
Location: Based at NEF’s offices in Milton Keynes but some working from home possible with prior agreement. Role requires some remote-working in Nottingham, East Midlands  
Contract Term: 1-2 days per week. Contract to 31st December 2018
Remuneration: Competitive
Closing Date: 29.10.2018, 5pm

Purpose: To support social housing providers to deliver a collective commitment for 5000 retrofits in the UK.  
 
This will include:
• Working with housing providers on stock assessment and selection for Energiesprong demonstration properties, including initial scaling volumes
• Developing the business case for housing providers’ specific requirements (based on the existing Energiesprong UK business case) and support the housing providers in reaching an investment decision
• Supporting the housing providers in organising the procurement of retrofits based on performance based criteria instead of pre-defined solutions

Supply Chain Procurement Manager

Title: Supply Chain Procurement Manager
Reports to: The National Energy Foundation (NEF)
Location: Based at NEF’s offices in Milton Keynes but some working from home possible with prior agreement. Role requires some remote-working in Nottingham, East Midlands
Contract Term: Up to 3-month Fixed Term Contract or secondment to NEF
Remuneration: Competitive Package
Closing Date: 05.10.2018

Purpose: To develop the supply chain for Energiesprong solutions, to support suppliers to understand Energiesprong, create solutions, and reduce costs. The core elements of this role will include:

  • Establishing a network of specialist contractors and suppliers including consultants (architects, engineers, energy modelling specialists, M & E suppliers or installers, system integrators, component manufacturers)
  • Supporting solution providers and suppliers to develop their business models, plan for cost reduction, helping suppliers to think creatively and to understand risk
  • Running supply chain engagement events and presenting at relevant events
  • Working with solution providers to develop their supply chain, including understanding and testing opportunities for cost reduction through sharing solutions or products (e.g. is procurement for monitoring equipment across all Solution Providers going to save money and if so can we agree a specification?)
  • Establishing key works packages and supply agreements

Renewable Energy Systems Technical Officer

Reports to: The National Energy Foundation (NEF)

Purpose: To critically appraise the options available for the energy services system, including controls and monitoring to identify requirements for the appointment of suitable specialist contractors. The core elements of this role will include:

  • Appraise the current proposals and options
  • Develop templates, cope of works and technical specification document
  • Identify specialist contractors and how to evaluate proposals/tenders

Roll Out Project Manager

Purpose: To supply solution providers in mobilising and leading the operational delivery of rolling-out Energiesprong solutions. The core elements of this role will include:

  • Mobilising and delivering projects
  • Establishing an effective team for delivery of the project
  • Ensuring project objectives and required outcomes are understood by the team members as appropriate
  • Managing risks and ensuring project objectives and outcomes are achieved
  • Providing regular reports on status of key deliverables to key stakeholders as appropriate

Supply Chain Support

Title: Supply Chain Support
Reports to: The National Energy Foundation
Location: Based at NEF’s offices in Milton Keynes but some working from home possible with prior agreement. Role requires some remote-working at partner premises across the UK. Role may require occasional international travel (mainly NL, FR, BE).
Remuneration: Competitive; 0.4 – 0.6 FTE (2-3 days per week); Up to 6 months’ contract
Closing Date: 05.10.2018

Purpose: To develop the supply chain for Energiesprong solutions, including solution providers, and tier two supply chain, and to support suppliers to understand Energiesprong, create solutions, and reduce costs. The core elements of this role will include:

  • Working with front runner Energiesprong suppliers to help them understand the energy plan, offsite manufacture, performance specification, performance guarantees, monitoring options, and to ensure effective delivery of all of these in pilot and scale up projects
  • Establishing a network of tier two suppliers / consultants who could fill gaps in larger organisations or form collaborations to become solution providers (architects, engineers, energy modelling specialists, M & E suppliers or installers, system integrators, component manufacturers)
  • Engaging new potential solution providers – understanding the gaps in their organisations, and their triggers and barriers for engagement (scale, long term commitment, pace) resulting in a supplier engagement plan, linked to the Energiesprong project pipeline
  • Match making new providers with external consultants or tier two suppliers when projects required
  • Supporting solution providers and suppliers to develop their business models, plan for cost reduction, helping suppliers to think creatively and to understand risk
  • Running supply chain engagement events and presenting at relevant events
  • Working with solution providers to develop their next tier supply chain, including understanding and testing opportunities for cost reduction through sharing solutions or products (e.g. is procurement for monitoring equipment across all Solution Providers going to save money and if so can we agree a specification?)

Infill Market Maker

Title: Business Development/Infill Market Maker
Reports to: The National Energy Foundation
Location: Based at NEF’s offices in Milton Keynes but some working from home possible with prior agreement. Role requires some remote-working at partner premises across the UK. Role may require occasional international travel (mainly NL, FR, BE).
Remuneration: Competitive; 0.4 – 0.6 FTE (2-3 days per week); Up to 6 months’ contract

Purpose: To deliver the requirements for Energiesprong UK under two EU funded projects, Transition Zero (Horizon 2020) and E=0 (Interreg NWE). In addition, the role will provide analysis and support across a range of areas including funding and finance, supply chain development, and housing provider projects. The core element of this role will include:

  • Market development with housing providers, including infill sites
  • Developing the Energiesprong UK business model for infill sites alongside housing partners
  • Supply chain development for performance guaranteed offsite construction
  • Brokering deals between developers, housing providers and funders
  • Market testing with Solution providers
  • Liaising with procurement organisations and leading on procurement exercises
  • Liaison with Homes England
  • Supporting landlords to take projects from concept stage to on site delivery, including grant applications, planning submissions, financial approvals and procurement.
