I am a problem solver and I am tenacious, both of which work well in my role here at ESUK. Whilst keeping our systems running and operational, I spend time identifying areas we can improve, processes that could be streamlined and ways to better support the team in their ambition to retrofit the UK.
Whilst I have experience in a plethora of organisations, most of my career has had a common focus on property for 14 years. A large stint being as a Surveyor within the public sector.
My experience has exposed me to the poor performing yet resilient UK housing stock, particularly those managed and owned by social landlords who are faced with the challenge of using what little budgets they have to stretch across their many conflicting priorities which often leads to short-term fixes as opposed to long term strategy. I have witnessed the impacts the cost of living has had on many, especially the inability to afford to keep their homes warm.
My experience has now led me here, with ESUK. A non-profit that strives to improve UK homes, lower energy usage/emissions, reducing energy bills and, in turn, our impact on our planet.
I am pleased to be part of the solution.
Hard to choose one that isn’t cliché or boring to read, will therefore say it was scaling Mount Batur on no sleep.
