I joined Energiesprong to develop the supply chain, seeking out champions and innovators who were interested in improving the retrofit eco-system. I’m still regularly immersed in the demonstrators and innovation projects - feedback and learning from our cutting-edge portfolio is essential in developing and securing funding for our continuing programme.
I’ve got more than 25 years’ experience across industry, government and sustainability sectors, delivering cutting edge and (often disruptive) innovative projects.
My engineering background has enabled me to engage in some of the most exciting challenges including nuclear decommissioning, pharmaceuticals and £bn greentech initiatives. I studied in the Netherlands for a year and was delighted to take on a role which included learning more about housing solutions in the Dutch (and several other) European economies. Arriving here straight from the Government energy innovation team has helped me shape our policy asks and connect with the UK innovation agenda.
I’ve worked and studied with inspirational people, worked hard to support ambitious programmes succeed and even harder to capture learning from very challenging schemes. Learning from these diverse experiences helps me solve problems and apply new processes that can deliver the step change performance we need in retrofit and to take meaningful steps in tackling climate change.
Although superseded recently by better work from my most excellent colleagues, brokering the initial Energiesprong performance specification was a big achievement. It guided us through the initial development of the Energiesprong concept in the UK and the first pilots – it was a great tool in driving ambition and focussing on outcomes.
